Alexander McQueen Military Brocade Palatial Rug, Gold, Ivory, Silk, Wool, 2012. Extremely rare 18’7” x 12’ size. Limited edition gold on ivory color way (2012). This dramatic design was originally conceived by McQueen for an embroidered coat in 2001. The curled oriental serpent appears from a skull in the centre of a classical wreath of ferns, hand knotted in gold silk and set against a cream cashmere background. The motif is raised and hand carved to emulate brocade on a military uniform.
