Signed. Stunning work by the superstar contemporary NY artist, Dennis Ashbaugh. From his early series of work inspired by the forms and aesthetic of the Russian Supremetists of the 1910’s but on an American scale as a shaped canvas (hard-edge painting was a big deal at the time) and on the eve of the American bicentennial. A companion work from 1979, also monumental, is part of the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
